Tall Ships Charleston 2017
Tall Ships Charleston 2017 is 3 days of exposure to an amazing collection of ships from around the world. The festival actually starts on Friday, May 19th and goes until Sunday, May 21st, and during that time people can gather at their Festival grounds located at the Veterans Terminal Docks at the Old Naval Shipyard. Attending the festival is FREE and includes fun events for the whole family like live music, food trucks, art exhibits and more! Parking is $5 all day.
If you wanted to get the real experience of Tall Ships Charleston which involves things like actually boarding some of the boats for tours and actually sailing on them, then that is an added cost and tickets can be purchased here. Tickets are as low as $15 to board some of the boats and explore to as high as $250 for a pass to see all the boats up close and personal.
Those living in Park Circle are in luck because on Thursday, May 18th, all the ships will be sailing right past the North Charleston Riverfront Park. The “Parade of Sail” parade route will officially start at Fort Sumter and travel along the Historic Charleston waterfront, under the Ravenel Bridge, up to Riverfront Park for a cannon salute, and back to the shipyard. Starting at 1pm by Fort Sumter, you should be able to see a line of boats coming our way around 2-3pm.
