Shipwatch Square Shopping Center Redevelopment Plans
The City of North Charleston is on the verge of finally selling their ownership of the Naval Hospital and the Shipwatch Square Shopping Center sites. Once the sale is complete, the city is working that the new developers to achieve the primary goal of bringing a grocery store to the area that will hopefully spark redevelopment in the area. To give you an idea of how the city is making the attraction of a grocery store to the site a priority, the deal between the city and the buyers includes incentives for just that. The Naval Hospital site will be transformed into a mixture of park and office space as well as housing. The hospital itself is in plans to be renovated into a health clinic and senior living center.
